Talk with the Taft Team

This week, In lieu of an in person Coffee with the Taft Team, we will host a Zoom Talk with Taft Team on Wednesday, October 6, 2021.  We will meet on Zoom at 6 p.m. on our usual 858 935 2650 code.  We will briefly review our School Safety Plan and share our Restorative Justice practices.  This meeting will last approximately 45 minutes.

2021-2022 School Site Council/School Governance Team

We have a few opportunities for our parents and community members to be involved in the decision-making process through participation in our School Site Council (SSC) and our School Governance Team (SGT).   

Our SSC is responsible for the Site Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA) as well as the allocation of Title I resources to support student learning. SSC Members also represent Taft at our District Advisory Committee (DAC).  It is a great opportunity to be formally involved in our school community.  

Our SGT is responsible for the policies and academic programming of the school.  The SGT sets the schedule for the school as well as local school and student policies. 

The time required for both of these meetings is approximately an hour and a half  once a month.    

For the 2021-2022 school year, we will have 5 parent/community vacancies.  Parents who have expressed interest in serving on these committees will have their names be placed on a Parent Ballot. 

If you are a parent or a community member who would like to volunteer to serve on these committees, please email Ms. Rosemary Acevedo, at racevedo@sandi.net by 4:00 p.m. on Monday, October 4, 2021.  Ballots will be sent home with students and must be returned by 4:00 p.m. on Monday, October 11, 2021.  New SSC and SGT members will be notified by Tuesday, October 12, 2021. 

The first meeting of the 2021-2022 school year for both committees will be on Thursday, October 14, 2021, at 4:15 p.m.  The schedule for 2021-2022 meetings will be the 2nd Thursday of each month.

Parent & Community Needs Assessment Survey

Our School Site Council would sincerely appreciate your feedback on what instructional or socio-emotional needs our schools needs.  We ask that you complete this voluntary survey to give us feedback by 10-14-21.

Looking ahead:

Progress Report 1 Grading Period

The 6 week grading period for will end on Friday, October 8, 2021.  Grades will be available on Power School on Friday, October 15, 2021. Please reach out to your student’s teacher directly via email if you have any questions or concerns.

Picture Day

Picture Day at Taft will be on Monday, October 11, 2021.  All students may take their pictures for their school ID.  Optional purchases will be available through the photography company.

Halloween 2021

Costumes will be allowed on campus on Friday, October 29, 2021.  All costumes need to abide by our current dress code.  Masks and/or fake weapons are not allowed.  More details will follow.
