Taft Eagle News

Dear Taft Families,

This is Principal Garcia-Rubio calling with an important update.

We are excited to start Term 4 with online instruction for our families who have selected this instructional model.

We are offering in-person instruction, Monday through Thursday, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

To make this experience successful, we ask that you prepare in the following way:

1. Please let us know if your survey response has changed. Attendance will be pre-populated by our district and we cannot change your information at the site.

2. Please complete the following In-Person Instruction Acknowledgment form: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Mgx3JO4_T5Rj61WwpS0JXbfvzB6v2gdDZFA8A3fk4Aw/copy

Your student must bring this form with him or her on Monday, April 12, 2021. Students may not be allowed to remain on campus without this information.

3. Please also bring the Daily Symptom Checklist for your student: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1PUAIf-zVTfN27YUG-IDUISlAjCm_hCt4nwSKZMV_Fkw/copy

On Monday, April 12, 2021, we will welcome our students using our Main Gates on Gramercy Drive. 6th graders will have their own check-in area. 7th and 8th graders will be divided alphabetically. Our gates will open at 8:30 a.m. to allow for a staggered arrival. When students arrive, they will be instructed to wait in their teacher's identified waiting area. These areas will be clearly identified and marked with the appropriate social distancing length. Our teachers will retrieve their students at 9:00 a.m. and walk them to their classes. We will follow the same protocols for transitioning our different classes. All students must wear masks and will be asked to sanitize or wash their hands. Walking patterns have been established on our campus to keep the flow safe and orderly. Our teachers will review these procedures with our students and our ASB will produce a guided video. A map will also be forthcoming.

Students should bring their backpacks and school supplies. Students may also bring a refillable water bottle as our drinking fountains have been modified. Students may bring snacks and may eat them with the proper guidelines.

At the end of the day, our students will exit through the Main Gates on Gramercy Drive. Students who attend the Prime Time after-school program must go to Prime Time immediately. All students may take home a Grab and Go lunch, free of charge.

Please remember that Term 4 classes require a different Google Classroom code than Term 3 classes and that information will be available on our Sunday Update.

We know our students are both excited and nervous about returning. Our team has spent the week planning for this return and we want our students to have a safe, successful, and rich experience.

Thank you and go Eagles!
